The Social Media Marketing Report 2010 was recently released, and it answers the top three questions marketers are asking:
1) How is social media marketing return on investment measured? 2) Describe the social media best practices.
3) What are the time management considerations with social media?
65 percent of the marketers surveyed have only been involved with social media marketing for a few months or less. Wow, that is pretty interesting because MarCom New Media has been doing social media for more than three years!
Most marketers, about 56 percent, are using social media for no more than six hours per week, while about one in three invest 11 or more hours weekly managing their social media campaigns.
Furthermore, 85 percent of all marketers surveyed indicated that the main advantage of social media marketing is generating exposure for their business; 63 percent on increasing traffic; and 56 percent said it helped build new business partnerships for them.
Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and blogs were the top four social media tools that are being used by marketers. Bloggers are increasing -- in fact 81 percent of marketers plan on increasing their use of blogs. Last 72 percent said they will not be using MySpace in the future.
Being a Los Angeles online marketing firm, MarCom's perspective on the report is that it reflects most of what we are seeing in this major market area with our new clients. We believe that the most useful social media tools to date are blogs, if done with at mionimum two to three posrts p[er week, that are also optimized with key words that link back to relevant website pages.
Next MarCom New Media has had great results with youTube posts of short 1-3 minute videos of our clients. We have several online including a YouTube channel for Direct Marketing Pro, our clienty www.modernpostcard.com, and more than 90 for the Wiley Protocol.
